A city full of rats

This evening
as I made my way to bed
I saw a Raven peck at and kill two doves
for a piece of bread.
Nobody cared
until the man with the sugar cane
called the pigs.
There is no formula for human Interaction.
No real way to be justified.
Only unwritten rules in every room.
You guess
and work with what you are given.
That night I dreamed of great things.
Of a flock of fireflies and frogs,
who eat them alive.
Their shine penetrates
the walls on the inside of their mouths.
