Monumental Nostalgia

There was once a bridge,
once there was one.
Yeah,
right there,
towering across flooding water
– they deconstructed it
with cranes
took the stone and iron away
after the river went dry.
was a beauty,
but I get it,
who needs a bridge
where there is no water?
